I was born and raised in Flin Flon, a small city in northern Manitoba, Canada. I have resided in various parts of Canada as well as spending 4 years in Brisbane, Australia. I have only recently relocated/retired to Keremeos, British Columbia, Canada (May 2014) and have been truly inspired by the incredible beauty of the surroundings as well as the wonderful people who inhabit the Similkameen Valley. I feel so at home and know that at this stage in my life, this is where I need to be. I have always had a pencil or paint brush in my hand from a very young age. I have taken courses when I was able to and have always found something positive to take away and apply in my own way. About ten years ago, I was diagnosed with a genetic condition called Marfan Syndrome that affected my eyesight. After 6 surgeries over a two year period my vision was restored and it was during that period that I rekindled my passion for watercolours. This was very therapeutic and I have never looked back. For the past four years, I have taken my art in a different direction painting mainly with acrylics. I have a love for birch trees probably because of my early life in the north with its abundant trees, lakes and rocks, but have also incorporated circles into many of my more whimsical paintings. Living in the Okanagan/Similkameen continues to inspire me. I currently have art work displayed/for sale at a few locations in Manitoba and several locations in the Okanagan/Similkameen including The Old Grist Mill, Tree to Me, and local wineries. I am a member of the Okanagan Art Gallery in Osoyoos, BC, a cooperative gallery of over 20 artists.
Thank you for taking the time to review my art work. Please contact me with any questions.
