About Carolyn Jager

I get my inspiration from the incredible beauty of the Okanagan Valley, having moved to Twin Lakes from Alberta in 2012.

I have always loved art and after attending some night courses at ACAD in Calgary over 12 years ago, I began working with acrylics and watercolours.   I was introduced to encaustic art at a December 2013 workshop in Penticton and completed further studies in Arizona.  I have also learned additional techniques at courses at the Shatford Centre.

Encaustic is the ancient art of painting with molten beeswax and pigments.  Adding encaustic into my creations has allowed for more spontaneity, vibrant colours and texture.  As a hobby, I collect and polish rocks.  Working with encaustic I am able to embed some of these little gems into my paintings creating even more interest.

I especially love to paint trees, vineyards and flowers.  I am very fortunate to live and paint in the Okanagan/Similkameen area, where I can step out of my door and immediately be one with nature.

I am a member of CanWax West Chapter of Encaustic Artists, The Penticton Arts Council, The South Okanagan/Similkameen Chapter of FCA and the South Similkameen Arts Society.
